Donna Rae Davidson In 1985 Donna Rae Davidon was inspired to write her first play after seeing "Angry Housewives". Since then, she has written 16 plays. She has won several awards for her work including two Director's Festivals and one Playwright's Festival at New City Theatre. PBS produced her one act play "Stand Up" and in 1998 she won the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival for "Women With Balls" and had the opportunity to perform at the Seattle Repertory Theatre. Although "Women With Balls" has been her most rewarding play to date, she is looking forward to the production of "Claudia Kelly's 500 Hats" at this year's Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival, and hopes eventually to take this play to New York. She is very grateful for finding the collaborator of her dreams, Rob Jones, who makes her lyrics sing. As well as writing plays, Donna Rae is a comedian, a certified Silver Level Ballroom Dance Instructor, a ukulele virtuoso and has her own line of handmade greeting cards. |

Rob Jones Producer, Music Director, Arranger, Accompanist - Rob is proud to present the work of his collaborator, playwright/lyricist/performer and mass talented babe, Donna Rae Davidson. He is very pleased to announce the 'directorial debut' (say with demented upper crust accent) of local favorite actress/singer Joanne Klein. He is quite delighted to be working with a wonderful cast, partner in crime Donna Rae, long time friends Kim Maguire and Shana Pennington, and new friend Selena Whitaker-Paquiet. Rob is also busting a button over the work of his sister, graphic artist Kathy Kotomaimoce, (poster, website, program, etc) and just tickled that Mom showed up to join all the other wonderful women in the bathing suit photo shoot! He would like to thank Kent, Ben, Angela, Pippin, Cindy, A.J., Jerry, Tim, Nicole, Craig and Diane, Jennifer, and Liberty for their marvelous contributions, the Mae West Fest and Seattle Public Theater for the opportunities, and a very special thank you to the folks at Greenwood Senior Center. He is also happy to return to the Bathhouse Theatre, where he was a regular with Arne Zaslove's company in '95-'97. Rob began writing songs with D.R. in '98 while she was developing her epic musical, THE NORTH ARCADE, a work still in progress based on her experiences at Pike Place Market. In '99 they began re-writing CLAUDIA KELLY'S 500 HATS, a musical comedy inspired by D.R.'s real-life best friend, Claudia. ...HATS will play in the 2002 Seattle Fringe Festival in September at Richard Hugo House, starring Bobbi Kotula as Claudia. In 2000, Rob and his old '77 Datsun pickup hauled the original set for WOMEN WITH BALLS to a little theatre in Eureka, CA and back, and it was during that production he realized the play deserved a bigger audience. Rob and D.R. received their first commission in spring '01, an adaptation of the Cinderella story for Studio East. and plans are under way for a workshop/showcase of CINDY ELLE in winter 2003. Their work with Musical Theatre Ink in the '01 Fringe Festival, a ten minute musical entitled BEFORE THE FALL (the "pride" piece in SEVEN DEADLY SINS) led to a commission from the Fifth Avenue Theatre to musically adapt a children's book for the Fifth's school tour. MY DOG NEVER SAYS PLEASE was the resulting ten minute musical. Rob also collaborated in '01 with Oregon Cabaret Theatre's Artistic Director, Jim Giancarlo, on a holiday piece called SANTALAND, and recently composed a theme song called POPS AND ROOKIE for Zani-Acts, the Schneedles' baseball act. Writing musicals with Donna Rae has given Rob's artistic career a whole new meaning. Rob has worked professionally in and around the Seattle Theatre scene for many years as an accompanist, music director, conductor, actor/singer, etc. He has been seen or heard in many venues, including the Bathhouse, Seattle Children's, Crepe de Paris, Oregon Cabaret, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Empty Space, Village, Woodinville Rep, and CLO. He also dabbled in radio for a few years at KOMO, KVI, and Metro Traffic. Rob would like to have more time for boating, and enjoys sailing the 'dinghy of his future yacht,' the S.V. CALDONIA. |
